32. Just because your child appears to be handling his or her emotions well, don’t assume that he or she is okay. Some kids respond to divorce by becoming overly responsible or by closing down their emotions. They may need to hear, “Tell me how you’re feeling.”

33. While it is important to listen and accept your children’s feelings, it is equally important to set limits on behavior.

34. Keep a private journal where you express your feelings. Be sure to keep it in a private place where your children won’t find it. A journal provides a place to express anger, sadness, loneliness, and fear—all of those feelings you feel every day as a single parent.

35. Remind yourself that recovering from divorce will take time. Your recovery will happen on its own schedule, and it will happen. You will get through this intact.

How to Care For A Pregnant Dog

There are many aspects to properly caring for a pregnant dog। This article will assume nothing as perhaps some of you obtained an already pregnant dog from a rescue situation or the like versus a planned pregnancy. As I have no idea at what stage you obtained your pregnant dog, I will begin with the the earliest stages of pregnancy.

Step1

If you suspect any dog of being pregnant, the first thing I will recommend is a vet checkup. Especially if you have no idea as to the stage of pregnancy the female is in. You will need to know about where your female is at to know what special care needs to be given at different times.

Step2

When your female dog (bitch) is first bred, you number one concern should be that she is kept in as stress free of an environment as possible. It is normal that a female reabsorbs many puppy fetus's early in the pregnancy. Her stress level being kept in check is one way to preserve life. And by early, I am talking before she is even showing physical signs of being pregnant.

Step3

If the vet has determined that your female is very freshly bred, I would ask about getting her vaccinated. This can be touchy as to when your female was bred so go under advise of your veterinarian.

I personally vaccinate my expectant mama's when they come into a heat cycle which I know ahead of time I will be planning to breed her. This helps protect the puppies once born for up to 8 wks when a puppy's system is better able to process a vaccination and gain better protection. Kind of a 'filling of the gap' let's say.

Step4

The 2nd thing which is just as important, if not more so, is a proper diet.

Once you know your dog food is a good nutritional choice, you need to know how much to feed.

Do NOT overfeed a newly pregnant dog. This can lead to problems in whelping (giving birth) both in that the puppies can get too large and that the female can build up too much fat around her reproduction organs... both of which can lead to the necessity for a cesarean section.

Step5

When your female has approximately 3-4 weeks left in her pregnancy, you should start gradually increasing her feed intake. At this stage, the puppies are starting to demand more and more nutritionally from their mother and you need to protect her from becoming underweight.

Step6

Do NOT feed an extra calcium source despite what you may hear to the contrary. Doing so can place the female at increased risk of eclampsia (milk fever) which can prove fatal very quickly. See my other eHow article on How To Detect Canine Eclampsia. Please don't wait until it's too late, once eclampsia hits, it's too late to start reading about it.

Step7

A dog's gestation is approximately 62 days (see my article on How To Calculate Your Dog's Due Date here on eHow as well).

When your female is approximately 1/2 way through her gestation, I worm my females. Please get a GOOD wormer like a pyrantel paomate based wormer such as Nemex-2 or ask your vet or a trusted dog breeder for recommendations. I NEVER recommend wormers sold at department stores and the like... they usually sell lower quality wormers. Don't worry, buying quality elsewhere should not cost you more money...

** I personally despise Hartz products.

Not only is this vital for the dam (mother) but for her puppies as well. It is not safe to worm a dog past the halfway point in her gestation (unless administered by a veterinarian!) and as round worms can be passed from dam to puppies very easily via the milk, you want to ensure the puppies get as clean a slate to begin with as possible.

Step8

I worm the female again the day the puppies are born for the same reason. Puppies do not get their first worming until 1 week old and then with a puppy safe pyrantel paomate based wormer. (I prefer Nemex-2 myself)

Step9

Watch for physical signs of impending labor.
This could include some/all or even none of the following:

"Hollowing out" of the hip area. That area just inside the hip bone. A dog's 'waistline' if you will. This will appear to dip in. This means that your girl has 'dropped' and puppies are getting into place for birth. Start watching for puppies usually within the week.

A 'dropped' belly. The belly may look like it is sagging more than it had been. Same as above.

Your female may even all of a sudden look like she isn't even pregnant and you could panic and look for pups only to realize that no, she hasn't had them yet. Again, they are just getting into position. The dam may be built in such a way that the puppies appear hidden at this stage. (check vulva for sloppy signs of giving birth to reassure yourself)

Take your girl's temperature rectally. A normal dog's temp is around 101. If her temp goes down to around 97-98 she is ready NOW. Don't leave her side. It may toy with you at around 99-100 and bounce up and down. This is normal but still indication that labor is impending within a couple days time.
WARNING: Some females will drop from a normal temp to labor temp within a matter of minutes! I had one girl start giving birth just 15 minutes after having a normal temp taken so do not take a normal temp as a safe zone... it's not. It only means if you get a low temp, it's definitely pending very soon.
If her temp goes up, please consult with a vet to ask advice in the case she develops an infection, etc that may require his/her intervention.

NESTING: Your girl may start frantically digging at covers, hiding or acting determined to spend more time in one spot than another. This is her trying to decide where to give birth. Means her hormones are kicking in. The same hormones that will trigger the actual labor.

SHIVERING: Many dogs will shiver during labor. This is actually them having contractions. Do not take this sign lightly. On the flip side, it could be eclampsia but if she is otherwise calm or just nesty, it's likely labor. Eclampsia at this stage is not as common as after the puppies are born.

SPACING OUT: Your girl may get this far away look in her eye. This, also, is a sign she's in labor.

IRRITABILITY: Don't be surprised if she gets a little testy. Nerves can kick in for her just as it can for people going into labor. Be kind, do not reprimand her but instead do what you can to ease her stress.

NEEDINESS: You may find

Step10

Once your female starts having her puppies, she should not go longer than an hour in hard labor. If she does, confer with your vet over the phone. (take good notes on temps, times, etc for your vet's sake and yours)

Once you feel your female is done whelping, it is best if your able to take her and the puppies in for an exam to be sure nobody else is lurking inside waiting to come out and rule out any problems and get those puppies checked over good.

Gather some basic information about the data you want. Know what information the database hold as well as which table you want to query, what rows the table holds and which of those rows you want to see.

Formatting a computer hard drive is simple and can help eliminate viruses, storage issues and other hard-to-resolve problems.

Preparation

Step1

When you format a computer hard drive you will lose everything that is on the drive. Therefore, it is very important to back up anything you might want later. Additionally, if you are going to be formatting and installing XP you need to make sure you have the discs for any applications or third party hardware you use since you will need to re-install your programs and drivers after re-installing Windows.

Step2

Take a moment to think of anything that you have on the computer that you wouldn't want to lose. Generally, you probably want everything in your My Documents folder, and you also want to save things like your favorites or bookmarks from your Web browser. Remember that each user on the computer has his or her own My Documents folder, Desktop items and Favorites/Bookmarks.

Step3

Save everything to a CD, DVD or a hard drive that you won't be formatting.

Formatting a Secondary Hard Drive

Step1

Right-Click on the “My Computer” icon either on your desktop or in the Start Menu and select “Manage.”

Step2

A new window titled “Computer Management” comes up. Select “Storage” from the left hand side by clicking it once, then select “Disk Management(local)” from the right side by double-clicking it.

Step3

Now in the lower part of the main frame (right side) of the window you should see a nice visual of all your hard drives. Each line is a different drive. Each box on a line (with a colored bar at the top and a size displayed in MB or GB) is a partition on the drive. Partitions are separations of space on a drive. Unless you are doing something specific that requires multiple partitions, you only want one partition per drive.

Step4

First you must delete any existing partitions on the drive you are going to format. Do this by right-clicking on the partition's box and selecting “Delete Partition...” Since you already know that you will be deleting everything on the drive, and have already backed everything up, you can safely say yes to any warning the computer presents you with.

Step5

If there are multiple partitions make sure you have saved everything off them since they might each have different drive letters (i.e. “D:” or “F:”). Then repeat the above step for each of them. If you only want to format one partition that is OK and you can continue to the next step without deleting the other partitions.

Step6

The box for the drive to be formatted should now have a black bar at the top of it and should say “Unallocated” under its size (see picture). Right click on it and select “New Partition...” The New Partition Wizard comes up.

Step7

In the New Partition Wizard click next. On the next page make sure “Primary Partition” is selected and click next. Now make the size equal to the maximum (it should already be set to it), and click next again. On the next page the computer will automatically choose the first available drive letter for the new drive. However, if you like you can choose another drive letter from the drop-down menu, and then click next.

Step8

Finally the New Partition Wizard asks if you would like to format the new partition and if so what format. Choose “NTFS” as it is faster and more secure. Leave the “Allocation unit size” as “Default.” In the “Volume label” field enter whatever name you want the drive to have. Simple is better. Avoid using spaces. Lastly, if the drive is brand new and has never been used before check the “Perform a quick format” box. If the drive has been used before leave this box unchecked. Leave the “Enable file and folder compression” box unchecked and click next. Then on the next page click finish.

Formatting and Installing from the Windows XP CD

Step1

This section explains how to reformat a drive from the Windows XP installation CD. This can be used when installing a fresh copy of Windows onto a computer. Here it is especially important to backup all of your important information because upon formatting you will lose EVERYTHING that used to be on the drive. This includes all applications and device drivers, so you must back up everything you can.

Step2

Insert your Windows XP installation disc into your CD drive (Home or Pro--it does not matter).

Step3

Now as you computer boots a little more it will say “Press any key to boot from CD..” press a key to do so.

Step4

The CD will load up a blue screen and then spend a while loading files it needs. When it is finished it will list a few options, mainly “Press ENTER to set up Windows XP.” Press Enter or Return.

Step5

Now you will be at a screen to select where to install Windows to. This is where you can delete old partitions and format drives. The box in the bottom half of the screen shows all your drives and the partitions that exist on them. Use the Up and Down arrow keys to highlight your “C:” partition and press the 'D' key (if all that shows up is “Unpartitioned space” and you have no C: or D: partitions, skip this step). On the next screen press the 'L' key to finalize deleting the partition.

Step6

Now you are back on the screen to choose where to install Windows. The box on the lower half of the screen should no longer show a partition but simply have an entry “Unpartitioned space xxxxxMB.” Select this with the arrow keys and press the 'C' key to create a partition on the drive. The next screen tells you the minimum and maximum sizes the partition can be and lets you pick the size. The default size is the maximum, but double check that the number entered is the maximum and hit enter.

Step7

Now you will again be back at the choose where to install Windows screen. But this time you will have a partition that looks something like this “C: Partition1 [New (Raw)]xxxxxxMB.” Highlight this entry and press enter.

Step8

The next screen lets you choose which file system to format the drive with. Choose NTFS as it is faster and more secure. If the drive is brand new and has never been used before then use one of the options that ends in “(Quick).” Or, choose one of the lower down options. Use the arrow keys to select the proper one and press Enter or Return.

1. Sedo: Sedo is the best domain brokerage company. They are good. To park with sedo, change your name server, register with them for free and add your desired prices.

With Sedo, your buyer will have to pay 10% of the cost of the domain you are selling to sedo as commission. You must use a broker to sell your domain, because you might transfer a domain and your buyer will not pay you if you dont use a broker.

2. Afternic: Afternic is a domain auction site. With Afternic, you just sign up for free, add your domain names and add your minimum bid price and wait for bidders. You can change your price once the first bidder comes and be rest assured you will sell it.

Note: Be careful of emails asking that they want to buy your domain but they will need you to appraise it with afternic. This is a legitimate domain business scam and I have had some of my proteges or students falling for this irrespective of my warnings. What they do is to send you their affiliate link and they make a percentage from what you are paying for appraisal and leave youb afterwards.

How to present your idea or invention to industry

Many people who have come up with a great new idea find themselves presenting their idea either to a potential investor to raise capital or to a company in order to get a licensing agreement. It is likely that a lot of time and effort has gone into the idea and organising the meeting but what about the presentation and should you have a prototype?
Meeting with interested parties

The most important thing at the meeting is to inspire confidence in your idea. The idea must be well thought out and thoroughly researched before putting in front of the interested party. If you have seen Dragon’s Den you will know that it can be a cut throat environment and the person you are presenting to probably deals with business everyday and therefore expects a certain standard of presentation. Unfortunately a rough sketch is almost always not sufficient.

In the ideal world the inventor would approach the meeting with a professionally developed, patented product that has been prototyped and is fully working ready for production. However there are often limitations of budget and therefore some elements often have to be a compromise.

Don’t compromise on design

One essential element is to have a professionally designed and developed product rather than a rough sketch. By allowing interested parties to envisage your idea as a real product you stand a much greater chance of success. Often the services of a product designer will be needed to produce this presentation. They will design out any issues regarding materials and manufacturing methods that might not be obvious to the individual.

If necessary, compromise on prototyping

The prototype is likely to be the most costly part of presentation and is not always essential. The visualisation of the product is often enough to convey the potential benefits and feasibility of the idea to the interested party.

The idea can be presented with just a patent filing number rather than a fully granted patent, although it would be more valuable if protected with a granted patent.

Professional product development often creates further intellectual property so it is advisable to complete the design work before filing a patent application.

Originality

One thing to note is that an interested party will often ask if the idea is original. A worldwide patent search completed by a professional patent researcher will determine the idea’s originality and should be completed before doing any product development or prototyping work.

How to Avoid a Divorce
